I first discovered fireweed on an Alaskan trip, not realizing these flowers were all around me in California. I also found them in all the northwestern states. These were blossoming in Idaho, not far from Sawtooth Wilderness. The blossoms drop off from the bottom up as the summer season progresses. Another flowering plant, cow parsnip, stands in the background, left.
